Kathy S. Wafer was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ United Methodist Church in Shreveport. Kathy graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a minor in special education. She graduated from Texas A&M with a Masters of Arts in education and completed a certification in supervision and administration from LSU in Shreveport. When Kathy retired from teaching for 20 years she entered the ministry full time. Kathy graduated from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary with a Master’s of Divinity degree focusing on spiritual formation. She is also a certified Spiritual Director within the Louisiana Conference. While serving at Broadmoor for 13 years she was responsible for spiritual formation, congregational care, prayer ministry, women’s bible studies, and retreats, health, and wellness, inviting hospitality, and teaching Sunday school/adult education. She enjoys nurturing the body of Christ through both learning and sharing the love of God through God’s word. She also serves as a spiritual director for the Women’s Walk to Emmaus.
Kathy is married to Corry Wafer and they have two daughters; Jessica, who is married to Cody Brightwell, and they live in Austin, TX with their daughter, Cora Ruth Brightwell, and Madeline, who is married to Daniel Flowers, and they live in Shreveport, LA with their son, Daniel James Flower. Kathy enjoys serving with the body of Christ at Lakeview UMC. She loves to be outdoors, hiking in the mountains, walking, playing with her grandchildren, working with her dogs Angel and Dixie, boating, traveling, and having fun with family and friends.
Angela Bell King is a Minden native. She served as the Office Manager at The Grove Golf Course for 10 years until its closing, and for the past few years, she has devoted her time to her family, her husband Doug King, and their two daughters Mary-Evelyn, 18, and Allie, 15. Angela is an active member of Minden Presbyterian Church. In her spare time, she enjoys women's bible studies, cooking, antiquing, and traveling with her family.
We are excited to announce that Holli Carrigan is the new director of our Lakeview Preschool.
Jordan Brint is a student at Louisiana Tech University and is currently majoring in Family and Child Studies with a minor in gerontology. She has spent time working in Denver, Colorado with an urban missions organization known as CSM. While here she worked with various youth groups helping them navigate the city and reach out to those around them using relational ministry. Jordan has a passion for youth ministry and strives to educate students about the world around them. In the past she has volunteered with Weekend of the Cross and various Vacation Bible School programs. Jordan is looking forward to working with the youth group and helping them grow along the way.
Linda was chosen by the Lakeview PPR committee to serve as our financial secretary. We are excited to welcome her to the church staff.
